Was watching the People's Choice Awards and saw to new trailers...

Robin Hood, from Ridley Scott...how many times has this been remade?

Clash of the Titans, originally given to us, back in 1981, by the great Ray Harryhausen.

Both look decent but, still....
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

They are out of idea for almost 20 years...
Why do you think I watch mostly movies from the sixties and seventies or independant productions

Let's not forget Disney's newest entry  due to a creative vacuum....The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

And we have to turn rides into movies?

I looked at the trailer for the Clash remake and I must say I was saddened. Nice if you like overblown CGI effects, but to a Harryhausen fan...

The Sorcerer's Apprentice is a ride? Pirates of the Carribean is a ride, the Haunted Mansion is a ride... The Sorcerer's Apprentice was a poem by Goethe, upon which Dukas wrote the music used in Fantasia. Disney is not well known for unadapted films, from Snow White on...
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

If you equal "the film industry" to Hollywood (which I don't), then the answer is a resounding YES, and has been for many years.

I had heard about this one. I think they gave it the wrong name...The Hip-Hop Kid sounds more apropos.

Nope it isn't out of ideas; there are loads of new and exciting ideas out there... but the industry IS terrified of a single blockbuster practically ruining their whole company if it fails so they ignore all these ideas and go back to something with a built in audience or successful pedigree to remake or adapt.

I can only imagine who would play the title character...Will Ferrell, Steve Carell or Rob Schneider.

When they are out of ideas they steal them from other countries.

But still cheaper and more interesting movies are getting made, you just have to look for them.

Hollywood has been out of new ideas since the first couple movies.

I'm in the minority where remakes don't bother me in the slightest. Would I rather there not be remakes? Sure, but I couldn't care less there are.

The reason I don't mind remakes is that there have been a lot of great movies because of them:

House of Wax (1953)
The Texas Chainsaw Masacre
The Thing (debatable as it was a short story first)
Ocean's 11
The Fly
Willard

And a ton more than I"m not thinking of. With remakes it's all or nothing. Sadly, you can't pick or chose the remakes you want.

That's okay with me, though. If 99% of them suck, but 1% ends up being a pretty amazing movie, I'm fine with those odds.

I don't mind remakes if they can improve significantly on the original. So I'm ok with The Thing, Ocean's 11 and The Fly. Not sure about Willard, and I definitely didn't see any reason to remake Chainsaw Massacre.

And by the way, The Fly was a short story first, too. Published in Playboy, if memory serves me right. But that was a few years before I started to read Playboy...
