For the first time ever, when trying to open Profiler this morning I got the following error message:

Division by Zero

I then had the options of: Repair database, open new db, open different db.
NONE of these options worked.

I've reinstalled the program and still get the same message.

Any ideas???

Does it help if you press and hold the Ctrl or the Alt key on startup? This should enable the profiler start with default settings.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work.

The db repair has since worked - but it didn't resolve the problem.

Once, I had this kind of problem, and nothing worked : restauration file, repair...

As I run dvdprofiler on two computers, I copied all files in dvdprofiler/databases/ from the one where it worked fine to the other, and everything became normal.

If you have a database that works, or if you can restore a backup file on another computer, you should try that.

I don't have another computer I'm afraid.

I've just tried to uninstall Profiler and get the following message:

Microsoft (C) Register Server has stopped working.

It subsequently won't let me uninstall.

Try performing a System Restore to a time when DVDP was working.

I'm sure you have already... but have you rebooted your computer? Sometimes a program on my comp stops working or locks up, and a simple reboot usually takes care of the problem.

I've done a system restore, rebooted (more than once) and cleaned up some of my registry and temp files.

After doing so I had to re-enter my registration key; but I still got the same error.

Pantheon,

Maybe the layout file you use got corrupted.

You can see which one you are using in the registry: start regedit.exe and browse in the left tree to:
HKey_Current_User\Software\Invelos Software\DVD Profiler

Then in the right of the screen you will see a whole bunch of keys listed alphabetically.
Scroll down to LayoutFileName, and doubleclick on it.

The part after the last slash is the actual layout. Make sure to leave in the entire path, and just replace the filename with 1 of the Invelos Default Layouts listed here below:

Invelos Default.dpl
Invelos Default - Medium Resolution.dpl
Invelos Default - High Resolution.dpl

I did as described but there were no keys listed at all.

It should look like the screen below. If it doesn't, try to browse to regedit.exe (located in c:\windows\system32. Right click on it, and choose: runas Administrator.

I'll be out of the house the rest of the afternoon. Should this still fail, you could see, if in your setup, the keys aren't under HKey_Local_Machine. The rest of the path should remain the same.

If all this keeps failing, I could email you replacements for the layout files. You have to let me know which ones you have. They are located in "My Documents\DVD Profiler\Layouts". Just PM me your email address, and the filenames, and I'll sent them to you this evening.

No LayoutFile Name present in regedit.

Also - I copied my db to a dvd and my sister was able to open it without any problems; so it must be a problem in Profiler itself.

I find it very strange that I'm unable to uninstall it too.

What about if I was to install the Beta over 3.5, would that correct it?

Another idea. Maybe a problem with the .net framework.

How to repair an existing installation of the .NET Framework:

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;306160&x=11&y=12

Before you do this, you are supposed to open a support ticket!

I managed to uninstall the program. I restarted. Then re-installed Profiler again and got the same 'Division by Zero' error message.

Perhaps uninstall and then browse the registry (regedit) to see if any instances of Invelos or DVD Profiler still exist after the uninstall, and delete them all if so. Then try a fresh install of the program.

Try to uninstall again. Then as Katatonia suggested, clean the registry.

Select the following entry in the left of registry editor:
HKey_Current_User\Software\Invelos Software - make sure Invelos Software is highligted in blue. Right click on it, and select delete.

Now clean the remaing files. Go to C:\Program Files --> delete the DVD Profiler folder.
Now go to the My Documents folder, and rename the DVD Profiler  to DVDPOLD. Don't delete this one because we need your database later on.

Now, I forgot to ask which version of WIndows you are using. But if it's Vista, in stead of just double clicking on setup.exe to reinstall the soft, right click on it, and choose Runas Administrator.

Just see if that works, than later you can move your database back to right location.
