| Posted: | | | | In 2.5 there was a field for an email server but it was never active. It would be great for if my system would email my frineds to return their loaned movies after their due date and then on a selected interval after due date to send reminders. A plugin for this would be greatly appreciated. |

| Posted: | | | | A feature such as this would be awesome. I am one of those (few?) that lend out movies, and sorta forget about it afterwards. Making the program send emails to lenders with a reminder would help me a lot |

| Posted: | | | | I'm sure the Email Reminder to Late Borrowers was a feature in Intervocative DVD Profiler, but seems to have disappeared when the product was taken over by invelos. However, as I removed the previous version for the the sake of space, I can't confirm this. I seem to remember that it was a useful feature if ever I decided to lend out any DVDs. I would sure like this feature now considering I have several DVD's on loan to friends, who I would like to remind that they have them |

Also, you get to use just about any info from the DVD profile within the email. More documentation and examples coming, but if you want to try it out now, go here:eMail Loan Reminder - step by step: (1) Make sure you know the smtp address of your outgoing server. Once you put it into DVDPL, the settiings are saved between sessions. (2) Update the loan status of your DVDs the normal way, using "Loaned To" and "Edit Users" to adjust the due dates and who has what. (3) Click "Tools > Options > Email > Send Loan Past Due Reminder" (4) Edit the email body (this is also saved between sessions, so if you like what you had before, you can skip this) (5) Check the "send email" box. To review, also check the "preview mode" button. You can see what will be sent before going out on the network. When you are satisfied, uncheck "preview". (6) Click "Ok". emails will fly. Since all those checkboxes, the email body and the smtp server are saved between sessions, if you know your loan status is up to date, all you need to do is steps (3) and (6) - quick and easy. | | | Thanks for your support. | Posted: | | | | If anybody is still intereseted in this ...
I split out the email from DVDProfileLoop into a separate plugin called DVDeMail.
A bit more testing and I will release it. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. |

gaz Sorry it was complicated. DVDeMail will be easier. Actaully it's ready - I am just trying to figure out a way to allow a "cancel" during the process. Just in case somebody makes a mistake - and needs to stop it before 10,000 emails go out! By the way if you have any suggestions, you can post them here or PM me. | | | Thanks for your support. By the way if you have any suggestions, you can post them here or PM me. Why not instead of putting in a cancel, just put in a confirm to send the emails? Not sure how you're doing it now, but I'm assuming you generate all the emails and then send them. If so then generate all the emails, and then give a prompt, X number of dvds are out on loan to Y number of users. Send emails now? actually, the number of dvds on loan and to how many users is probably useful even without a confirmation prompt (though you can probably just get that info from reports) -Agrare |

-Agrare What it does now is (1) Generate a list of all DVDs overdue, (2) Allow you to edit the email, (3) Preview the email or Send. In terms of programming, it would be much harder to batch up the emails, and you'd have to wait ... Based on experience, anything that does something "en masse", and uses critical resources (time, money, paper, bandwidth, goodwill) should have an interrupt feature. I have a % complete progress bar also. Imagine if you couldn't stop a long copy job! Actually you gave me a good idea: include user name in the DVD listing. Should be easy to add. | Posted: | | | | Anybody using DVDeMail? Does it work/suck/whatever? Not much point in doing this stuff if nobody needs or uses it, so some feedback would be helpful. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. |
